It started with a question from my husband. He wanted to know what I actually spent on manicures and pedicures. I sat down to work it out — and somewhere in that sum I realised I could simply do it myself.
That was the start of everything. Beauty and fashion had my heart since my teenage years, and from that moment I made them my work: twenty-five years in the industry, and in 2024 I opened the doors of my own spa here on Bonaire.
I called it My Whims and More. A whim is a woman's spontaneous wish — the little impulse, the mood that comes and goes. And more, because there is always something extra, something unexpected. Every woman knows that feeling; my salon is where you get to follow it.
I work by appointment only, and that is on purpose. You are never waiting your turn in a busy salon: the room is yours, the time is yours, and nobody is rushing you out of the chair. That is what I mean by a private spa experience.
In the treatment room you'll find me doing facials and peelings, sugaring, massage, and nails from a classic manicure to a full set. I work with professional skincare from Janssen Cosmetics and 2B Bio Beauty — the result on your skin is only ever as good as what goes onto it.
Twenty-five years on, my passion hasn't faded once. I do this to make the world a little more beautiful, one person at a time — and to make sure you walk out feeling it.
